Good News And Bad News For Denmark’s Crown Princely Couple

It appears to be a week of ups and downs for Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

First the good news: Frederik is in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia right now to honor Denmark’s economic ties with the Asian country. He will meet with the Mongolian president and prime minister, attend a Mongolian-Danish meeting on the energy sector. Then – and most importantly - he will visit the University of Education, where he will be granted a title of Honorary Doctor.

The latter may bring joy to Frederik and his wife Mary, but there is media trouble back home in Denmark. The Danish tabloid, Seg on Hor, has published pictures of their 2 year old son, Christian nude. The pictures were taken during the family’s trip to the beach last month. The Crown Prince and Princess were aware of the photographers taking pictures of their family, and asked that none of the photos of their naked son be published. Unfortunately, one media outlet did not listen.

Crown Princess Mary was told of this during her flight to her home country of Australia. She is said to be furious about Seg on Hor actions.

The Danish palace’s chief spokeswoman said yesterday “Prince Christian had taken off his bathing shorts and didn’t want to put them back on. The crown princess and crown prince became aware photographers had taken photos. They asked them not to use these photos.

“Just to make sure I called three weeklies in Denmark and asked them not to use those photographs. Two said they would not, but the third said they would.”

Seg on Hor defends its decision, saying the pictures are “innocent” and simply used them in a feature on the royal holiday.
