Prince William and Kate Middleton took a trip down the aisle together – at a friend’s wedding that is. The couple attended the marriage of Chiara Hunt - the sister of Wills and Kate’s friend Olivia, who went to St Andrew’s University with them.
This was the first attended wedding by the couple in nearly 3 years. Before, Kate went to weddings by herself, particularly this year. Twice William let Kate stand in for him at two family weddings – one of his cousin, Peter Philips and the other of Lady Rose Windsor.
But today the two seemed relaxed with each other. Kate smiled happily, and William tenderly put his hand on her shoulder as he led her inside the church. They were accompanied by a bodyguard.
The wedding of Chiara Hunt took place in Salzburg, Austria.
The appearance of the long-time couple at a wedding is bound to set off rumors that an engagement between Prince William and Kate Middleton is eminent. But, according to the News of the World, that may not be so.
“There is a lot of planning involved in a royal engagement announcement of a member of the family as senior as Prince William,” said a senior Royal Household member.
“A number of high-profile people have to be informed formally, and the couple have to be introduced to the Prime Minister of the day among others. All this takes time.
“As far as I am aware I cannot see there being an engagement between the Prince and Miss Middleton for at least 18 months.”
There are rumors going around that Kate is to be introduced to Prime Minister Gordon Brown this weekend at Balmoral, a prerequiste to announcing an engagement. But that is also being brushed off.
