Denmark’s future Queen was awarded the title “Woman of the Year” by the Danish woman’s magazine, Alt For Damerne.
Crown Princess Mary was deemed worthy of the honor due to her charity work, and for being a role model to professional Danish women.
The magazine explained Mary represents the fairy tale story of a woman who becomes a princess. But at the same time, she also becomes a mother, and juggles her royal duties and parenthood.
The Australian-born Crown Princess won 50,000 kroners, which she gave to her Mary Foundation. That charity helps disadvantaged Danes across her adopted country.
Upon accepting her award, Mary told the audience she was surprised to be named “Woman of the Year”
“I have been on a challenging and exciting journey since becoming princess four years ago, and having my charity work recognized warms my heart.”
