The Royal Hashemite Court released a statement in which the King of Jordan said his country is angry with the Israeli offensive in Gaza.
“Jordan is angry about Israeli aggression and expressed its anger by initiating all steps possible and necessary to stop it,” the King was quoted in a statement by the royal court, adding that Jordan is closest to Palestine and will do whatever needed to help Palestinians and show solidarity with them.
He warned that Israel’s aggression would have negative consequences on the whole region and on efforts to achieve lasting peace in the region on the base of two-state solution, which the world unanimously supported as the only way to achieve stability and peace in the region.
“Aggression will not bring security to Israel, which will not live in bless of security unless Palestinians restore their security and legitimate right to set up their sovereign state on their national soil,” said the King.
Earlier, King Abdullah told former British Prime Minister Tony Blair that the world’s silence over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza was “unacceptable.”
“The humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated in a way that silence has become unacceptable,” a palace statement quoted the King as telling Blair over the telephone.
“The international community should help end this tragedy and press Israel to stop its aggression and open border crossings to allow aid and evacuate the wounded,” the King said, according to the statement.
Jordan plans to build a field hospital in Gaza and send daily aid shipments to the densely populated and impoverished territory.
On Thursday it evacuated eight Gazans from the Egyptian’s city of El-Arish near Gaza to treat them in a military hospital in Amman.
