Prince William Tops Forbes’ Hottest Young Royals List

Rampant speculation and fascination over his public and personal life made Prince William number one on Forbes’ magazine’s “Hottest Young Royals” list.  prince-william

The magazine bases its list on royals between the ages of 18 – 35, and have kept the media and audiences watching their every move.

The second in line to the British throne was placed on top due to “a mother whose celebrity transcended the ranks of royalty.”

Forbes went on to say, that while the Windsors may live quiet and dull lives compared to the rest of rich and famous celebrities, “continuous family drama has managed to keep the world interested in Queen Elizabeth and her flock.”

In fact, six of the ten royals making the list come from the British royal family.

Closely behind William is his younger brother, the headline grabbing Prince Harry. Ever since he broke up with longtime girlfriend Chelsy Davy, the red haired wildboy has been drawing attention to himself over what he’ll do next.

Third comes William and Harry’s cousin, Zara Philips. Although not officially a royal – she bears no title – Zara has been attracting lots of attention with her style and equestrian competitions.

The York girls, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie also made the list, at numbers 5 and 7. Eugenie is the newest member of the Forbes list, thanks to turning 18 last year. Plus, her visiting strip clubs and running around school grounds naked didn’t hurt either.

The non-British royals on the list were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, Andrea and Charlotte Casiraghi of Monaco, Princess Sirivannavari of Thailand, and Prince Azim of Brunei.

Noticeably absent from the list was Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria. Forbes explains that is because she has been taken off the market by fiance Daniel Westling.

Thais Rally Against King’s Adviser

Tens of thousands of Thais protested against their beloved King’s adviser, saying he undermined democracy by orchestrating a pivotal 2006 coup. thai-protest

Most of the protesters massed near the Bangkok residence of privy councillor, 88 year-old Prem Tinsulanonda, to demand he step down for allegedly engineering the military’s ouster of their hero, former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

They also demanded that current Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva quit his post.

“Stop pulling strings from behind the scenes for the benefit of a few people you support at the expense of the majority,” shouted Jatuporn Phromphan, a protest leader. “We will not tolerate that!”

Prem, who has denied any involvement in the coup, remained inside his home while police and soldiers stood guard in the streets and within the compound’s walls.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej, 81, is widely revered, and by tradition the utmost respect has also been extended to palace circles around him. To issue public attacks on his top adviser is unprecedented in recent Thai history.

Most Thais are nervous about the future of the monarchy once King Bhumibol passes from the scene.

Bhumibol, on the throne for six decades, has been the country’s sole unifying figure during crises, but as speculation about his succession has become more urgent, the previously taboo topic of the monarchy’s role has become a topic of discussion.

There is particular concern because the heir apparent, Crown Prince Vajiralongkorn, has not shown the same selflessness and dedication as his father.
