Crown Prince Felipe spoke of the potential Latin America has for the Internet due to its cultural, political, and economic development that “the world, particularly Europe and North America should pay more attention.”

Felipe called the region “a large diverse, united, mixed with huge potential and open to the world” consisting of 22 sovereign, independent and equal, “which in the past two decades has become” active on the global scene.

“Latin America is not the product of an intellectual construction or a historic relic, but of a living reality.

“A reality that has brought a new awareness beyond our diversity and our occasional differences, far from the spirit of the times of tension or cologne of Independence.

“It is no longer an isolated region, but that is increasingly asserting its weight and its role in the international arena,” said the Prince.

Felipe went on about how Spanish is the first language for 450 million people, and one of the most used languages on the Internet. In addition, he praised the region’s improving economy.

He also pointed out Latin America’s close ties with its mother country, Spain. The Crown Prince discussed the Ibero-American summits, which he said are “an important conclusion for policy” and a “genuine international cooperation”, as well as “strengthening democracy and joined part of the two continents in the world more democratic. “
