Grand Duke Jean, the father of the current Grand Duke of Luxembourg, is currently in the hospital due to basic circulatory problems.
He was admitted Thursday and is expected to stay for a few days for observation.
The 88 year-old Jean was operated on in late 2008 for a hip implant, which was done in a Brussels hospital.
The former sovereign of Luxembourg stepped down in 2000 in favor of his son, Henri. He had reigned for 35 years.
Jean was married to Josephine-Charlotte of Belgium (1927 – 2005), and they had five children.
