On Sunday, the royal houses of Norway and Belgium released new photos of their Crown Princely families. The pictures show both families on their summer vacations.
First, the Crown Princely family of Norway released pictures in time for Crown Prince Haakon’s 36th birthday tomorrow. There will be no major celebration for him, so the photos are what the public is going to have instead.
But the photos are worth it! They show the family on holiday in Risor, on Norway’s southern coastline. All are together, including Crown Princess Mette-Marit’s son, 12 year-old Marius Borg Hoiby.
Although the photos were taken in Risor, the family is really spending time in a cabin on the islet of Flatholmen, which also has a boathouse and a private beach. The media were not allowed to see the cabin.
During the photo shoot, the bright light from the snowcapped mountains bothered the younger children, Princess Ingrid-Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus. 3 year-old Magnus, as he is called, ran away a lot and dad Haakon had to retrieve him.

Over in Belgium, the family of Crown Prince Philippe allowed the media to take pictures of them as they visited the Paradisio animal park in Burgelette yesterday.
All four of the Philippe and Crown Princess Mathilde’s children were there, all pink and rosy in their clothes which also matched their parents’.
The children – Elisabeth, Gabriel, Emmanuel and Eleonore – delighted over the animals at the park. At one point, a zookeeper put a bird on the elder two’s shoulders. Even Philippe held the bird.
The family went on to check out other animals, including a goat, which made Elisabeth giggle with excitement.
