On Thursday, Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko arrived in Belgium to begin his two day official visit. He was welcomed by Belgian King Albert II at Laeken Palace in Brussels.
The meeting between the two men was brief. Soon after their introduction, Yushchenko got down to business by meeting with Prime Minister Herman Van Rompuy, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and the newly appointed President of the European Parliament Jerzy Buzek.
The President was in Belgium to strengthen ties with the country. He did this by signing agreements with between the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy of Ukraine and the Belgian Federal Public Social Security Service on cooperation in social welfare.
