Saudi Crown Prince Expected to Return Home

After spending nearly a year in recovery following a surgery, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz is expected to return to the desert kingdom any day now.

The Shoura Council made this announcement on Monday. Already, Riyadh’s main streets are decorated with the Crown Prince’s portrait and the Saudi flag. Some billboards have even been put up welcoming the next Saudi King home.

There are also reports of Riyadh preparing for a big celebration.

Crown Prince Sultan had an operation in New York earlier this year, and has been recouperating in Morocco ever since.

King Abdullah II Issues Parliamentary Decree While in France

Jordan’s King Abdullah II decreed parliamentary elections to be delayed until March 2010. This is so politicians can amend the country’s detested election law and ensure fair elections by the time elections come around.

The King issued this decree while on a working visit to Paris on Tuesday. He met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy to discuss ways to bolster economic ties between France and Jordan, as well as go over the Middle East peace conflict.

Sarkozy and Abdullah are aiming to restart peace talks between the Israelis and Palestinians. The King wants Europe and France to support the talks. He has accused Israel of breaching international law and of driving out Christians and Muslims.

Victoria & Daniel’s Monogram Revealed

Today, the Swedish royal court issued the monogram of Crown Princess Victoria and her fiance, Daniel Westling. It was designed by Vladimir A. Sager Lund who works as a heraldic artist at the National Archives. Victoria & Daniel's monogram

The monogram consists of a V which intertwine in two slightly inclined-D, one of which is a mirror image, for a crown. If the V can be combined with the two D-backs letters can also be inferred from W, leaving Victoria and Daniel Westling’s initials.

The revelation of the royal monogram comes as word is going around that Daniel may not be attending te Nobel Prize gala. This is due to him still being in recovery from his kidney transplant back in May. Doctors told him to avoid crowds or risk an infection.

However, the royal fiance has been attending events with Victoria in recent weeks. Daniel was with her as they went to the 20th anniversary for the UN’s Rights of the Child Convention a couple of weeks ago. Additionally, Jonas Bergstrom, the fiance to Princess Madeleine, would be present at the Nobel dinner.
