It was glitz and glamour at Copenhagen’s Christian VII Palace at Amalienborg this evening as Queen Margrethe II held her annual New Year’s levee. Every year, the Queen celebrates the new year with members of the Danish royal family, the government and members of court as though she wants to gear everyone up for an exciting new time.
The Queen arrived at 7pm local time with husband, Prince Henrik. She wore a dark pink gown with floral designs at the bottom. Prince Henrik, interestingly, wore a tuxedo, and not a military uniform as he normally does.
The Crown Princely couple, Frederik and Mary, followed closely behind. Photographers went crazy as they saw Mary dressed in a bright orange dress, a difficult color to pull off.
Right after them were Prince Joachim and Princess Marie. The Princess wore a white dress that was covered with a fur bollero which hid the top part of her dress.
