You read that headline right – the youngest son of Prince Charles and the late Princess Diana is going to do a reality show. No, it won’t be about charity or the military. Instead, it would be a talent search. Prince Harry is teaming up with DJ Goldie to search for 12 youngsters between the ages of 17 and 24 with for a new BBC 2 series, Goldie’s Band – By Royal Appointment.

DJ Goldie, who is a drum and bass DJ, will search the UK for musically talented youths and the finale will take place in October at Buckingham Palace – yes, the Buckingham Palace – with Harry being the guest of honor. The winner of the talent search will be revealed then.
Contestants would range from classical musicians to R&B aspiring artists.
The Prince and the DJ met last year at the Wireless Festival in Hyde Park. There, Harry quoted some of the DJ’s lyrics, which set off the unlikely friendship.
Speaking about the venture, one royal aide said: “Harry is a fan of reality TV, but what is particularly good about this one is that its about mentoring and encouragement – nobody gets voted off or laughed at, so its not nasty at all.”
“Harry believes music can be a way for young people who haven’t had the best of starts to get a new chance.”
This isn’t the first time the British royal family has taken part in a television show, entertainment-wise. In the 1980s, Princess Anne and her brothers Princes Andrew and Edward took part in The Royal Knockabout. Many saw the program as degrading to the royal family.

“I’m impressed with all those who have set up, both the artists and all those working in the Opera House. It was very nice to see the voluntary work spirit. It was also nice to see all those who contribute in other ways, including those that help from home,” Crown Prince Haakon told the newspaper VG Nett after the concert.
Haakon also said the images from Haiti have had an affect on him.
“They make an impression, and I think we have a need to help. At the same time, I hope, and dare me to believe that it also means a lot to those living in Haiti to see that there are concerts all over the world,” he said.
13 year-old Marius is the son of Crown Princess Mette-Marit, whom she had in a relationship prior to meeting Haakon.

This past weekend saw the 6th annual Dubai International Film Festival open. Royals and celebrities from all over the Middle East have been taking part in the event, and among them is Jordan’s Queen Noor. She spoke at Sunday’s annual Culture Bridge panel as a guest of honor.
In her speech, the Queen said media platforms like this Film Festival (DIFF) can bring exposure on a global scale about the perspectives and narratives of one another’s culture. For example, movies like Burdus, which was shown at the panel, have the power to open communication and display how media can influence people.
Queen Noor cited personal examples and insights when she explained that media has the power to shift behavior and thinking, and can cut through differences and promote peace and prosperity.

Sweden and Norway are still celebrating their annual Nobel Prize ceremonies. There was a star studded concert in Oslo, and a gala banquet in Stockholm in honor of this year’s laureates.

First, Norway. A concert was held in honor of U.S. President Barack Obama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Hosted Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, the artists at this event included Alicia Keys and Wyclef Jean. At one point during his performance, Wyclef Jean climbed to where Crown Prince Haakon, Crown Princess Mette Marit and her son, Marius, were sitting in the audience. Jean shook hands with the royals and went on singing from where he was.
Over to Sweden where their royals’ love of dressing up took place once again for a gala banquet at the royal palace. Known as the King’s Dinner, it was where the royal family personally congratulates the Nobel laureates on their winning.
Crown Princess Victoria stole the show once again with her glamorous gown and tiara. But sadly, she was not accompanied by fiance, Daniel Westling, who was told by doctors to avoid this event due to his kidney transplant earlier this year.
But younger sister Madeleine was happily on the arm of her fiance, Jonas Bergstrom. She also looked stunning in her gown, which was worn to last year’s Nobel Prize ceremony, minus the bordello this time.

The longtime girlfriend of Britain’s Prince William went to a movie premiere in London’s Odeon Liecester Square Thursday night. This was a rare public appearance for Kate Middleton, as she has been out of the limelight for many months now.
The movie she saw was Tenacity on the Tasman, about Olly Hicks, a good friend of both William and Kate’s. Hicks, who at only 23 years old, became the first person to ever row from England to the United States alone. William and Olly Hicks have believed to have been friends since their teenage years.
Also in attendance were several members of William and Kate’s circle of friends. Holly Branson, the daughter of Virgin tycoon Richard Branson was there. So was Jecca Craig, a former flame of Prince William’s.
Proceeds from this premiere will benefit the charity, Hopes & Homes for Children.
He may never win the Italian throne, but Prince Emanuele Filiberto won enough Italian hearts to be voted the winner of Italy’s version of “Dancing With the Stars.”
The Prince, who’s grandfather was the ousted King Victor Emmanuelle III, won with dancing partner Natalia Titova.
”I am delighted”said Emanuele Filiberto. “Thank you Milly Carlucci that I wanted for this beautiful experience, where I met a fantastic group and many friends. Thanks to Dancing, I met a different aspect of my character, a great strength that has allowed me to get to the bottom without ever give up!”
Like all contestants, Filiberto spent months preparing for the show, studying waltz, rumba and merengue.
For the final dance, the Prince and Titova competed against Andrea Montovolo and Olga Karieva.
This season of Italy’s “Dancing With The Stars” was very popular, with record breaking viewership up and down the Italian peninsula.
Emanuele Filiberto has been attracting some media attention lately. Earlier this year, he announced he would launch a high fashion couture line for men.
An Islamic scholar is calling for prosecution of two royals whose TV stations air movies, saying they are dangerous as drug dealers.
The edict calling for their prosecution is unusual because it publicly chastises two such prominent Saudi figures by name — Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, one of the world’s richest people, and Waleed al-Ibrahim, a brother-in-law of the late King Fahd.
The chastisements come not long after Alwaleed said someday ultraconservative Saudi Arabia will have movie theaters – something that is banned in his country.
Cinemas were closed in Saudi Arabia in the early 1980s amid a rise in conservatism. Conservatives believe the movie industry encourages decadence by showing the drinking of alcohol and portraying men and women together in a country that bans liquor and the public mixing of the sexes.
“Movies are a tool that hypocrites use to implement their plot to Westernize society, corrupt it and drive it away from (religion),” said al-Ahmed in his response, posted on Islamlight.net, an Islamic Web site with news, columns and edicts.
“It is a duty to bring him (Alwaleed) and people like him, such as Waleed al-Ibrahim, to justice,” he added. “They are no less dangerous … than drug dealers.”
“He is the owner of the decadent channels that spread lewdness … and he constantly seeks to insult and humiliate women by showing them without a head cover and wearing makeup,” al-Ahmed said.
Al-Ahmed also called for Alwaleed to repent.
Alwaleed, a nephew of Saudi King Abdullah and the world’s 13th-richest person as ranked by Forbes magazine, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the edict. Alwaleed owns Rotana, a popular network of Arabic satellite channels airing movies and music videos.
Waleed owns the Dubai-based MBC Group media conglomerate, which includes several satellite channels that broadcast movies, entertainment, news and children’s programs in Arabic and English. Those include American and European sitcoms and movies.

Monaco’s Princess Stephanie inaugurated the 33rd International Circus Festival in Monte Carlo yesterday. The event will run until January 20th, where awards will be given out to the best circus acts.
The Festival first opened in 1974 by the late Prince Rainier, and has been run by the princely family since. The Grimaldis’ have long been fans of the circus, so this was a chance for Princess Stephanie, along with 14 year old daughter Pauline Ducruet, to enjoy a family tradition.
The Princess met with the various circus acts, and got a look at some of the paintings inspired by the circus. She even met with some of the major circus stars, the elephants! At one point, Princess Stephanie stuck her head inside an elephant’s mouth!
Stephanie once spent several months touring Europe with a circus troupe while seeing elephant trainer Franco Knie in 2000. That relationship did not last long, but the Princess’ passion for the greatest show on earth remains.
Stephanie’s big sister, Princess Caroline and her children were not at the opening, and it is unknown if they will ever show up at the festival.
Meanwhile, brother Prince Albert, Monaco’s ruler, is still touring through Antarctica. But it is expected that he will be in attendance for the closing of the festival. When that happens, the awards – which will be gold, silver and bronze clowns – will be given out to the best circus acts.
The King and Queen of Jordan took time off from affairs of state to walk the red carpet in Paris, for the premiere of the new 007 movie, “Quantum of Solace.”
Joining them was their eldest daughter, Princess Iman.
Dressed in a champagne dress and white cardigan, the 12 year old princess seems to have taken after her mother in terms of style and in looks. The Queen herself looked every bit the fashionista in a salmon colored, sleeveless dress.
The royal trio mingled with Daniel, his striking fiancee Satsuki Mitchell, Bond girl Olga Kurylenko and new Bond nemesis Mathieu Amalric.
Some royal watchers noted it was odd for a King and Queen to attend a movie premiere, especially one that is not in their country. Perhaps this is something new, as royals increasingly are seen as celebrities and jet setters, as well as heads of state.
Just days after returning from their trek across Africa, Princes William and Harry both attended the premiere of the latest James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, in Leicester Square in London. The royal duo looked sharp in their matching tuxedos, most likely making their female fans swoon at the sight of that.
It was a time for the brothers to see the new 007 movie, but also honor those who really are at Her Majesty’s Service.
Before entering the theatre, William and Harry met with the dozens of war veterans who waited outside for the royal brothers.
The aim was to raise more than £500,000 from the evening for two military charities, The Royal British Legion and Help for Heroes.
“The princes chose these two great causes because they are linked to Remembrance Day, but most importantly because they want to make the point that this is a film about a British action hero, but the money is going to our country’s real heroes who put their lives in the line of fire day in, day out, in Iraq and Afghanistan,” said a Clarence House spokesman.
William and Harry spent thirty minutes chatting with the servicemen and women while the stars of the new James Bond film waited patiently inside.
Once the princes got to the stars, there was a lot of joking and charming.
Prince Harry noticed Daniel Craig was wearing a sling, who injured himself doing his own stunts. Harry asked him, “What the hell happened to you? Tough day in the office?”
This is the first royal engagement William and Harry attended together. This is also their first movie premiere attendance since going to the Spiceworld premiere in 1997. That they went to with their father, Prince Charles.
