Kate Middleton was playing tennis with her family when a freelance photographer snapped pictures of her. While the agency, Rex Features, claims the photographer was not an employee, it syndicated the photos of Kate around the world.
“Although at the time Rex Features did not know that an infringement of privacy had occurred, we now accept that this was the case and that by distributing the photographs we were a party to that invasion of privacy.
“Accordingly we have agreed to pay compensation to Miss Middleton and have undertaken not to syndicate any further private photographs of her,” said the Rex statement on the agency’s website.
“We apologize to Miss Middleton for what has taken place.”
Kate was represented by Queen Elizabeth II’s lawyers, Harbottle and Lewis, and was awarded 5,000 pounds in damages. A spokesperson for her family said Kate will give the money to charity.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have been dating for several years now, and rumors come and go about when will they marry. It is believed 2011 would be the best time since William will be done with his RAF training.
Britain’s Prince William received his RAF wings today, with those closest to him cheering him on. William recently completed a year long course in becoming a search-and-rescue helicopter pilot, something that has been a dream of his for while.

The Prince and brought his father, Prince Charles, and stepmother Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to the ceremony. Also there was William’s longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton and her family. Cameras caught the couple chatting and Kate rubbing her boyfriend’s back right before the ceremony began.
The award ceremony, taking place at RAF Shawbury at the Defense Helicopter Flying School, lasted 30 minutes. It was William’s father who gave the wings to him.
Next for the Prince will be another training course in Wales beginning later this month. But first, he will travel to Australia and New Zealand for an official tour starting next week. I will keep you posted on that as the tour might demonstrate what sort of future the British monarchy has Down Under.

The longtime girlfriend of Britain’s Prince William went to a movie premiere in London’s Odeon Liecester Square Thursday night. This was a rare public appearance for Kate Middleton, as she has been out of the limelight for many months now.
The movie she saw was Tenacity on the Tasman, about Olly Hicks, a good friend of both William and Kate’s. Hicks, who at only 23 years old, became the first person to ever row from England to the United States alone. William and Olly Hicks have believed to have been friends since their teenage years.
Also in attendance were several members of William and Kate’s circle of friends. Holly Branson, the daughter of Virgin tycoon Richard Branson was there. So was Jecca Craig, a former flame of Prince William’s.
Proceeds from this premiere will benefit the charity, Hopes & Homes for Children.
Last night, Prince William was on hand to support long-time girlfriend Kate Middleton as she hosted a children’s charity auction.
The event was to raise money for the Starlight Children’s Foundation – something Ms. Middleton got involved in last year. It grants wishes for terminally ill children.
Dressed to the nines, Kate looked stunning in her gray halter dress. Her entire family also came out for their supprt. Her mother, Carole, has been proud of the work Kate has been doing for Starlight.
“Kate has been the inspiration behind our involvement with Starlight Children’s Foundation, a UK charity that helps brighten the lives of seriously and terminally ill children by granting their wishes and providing hospital entertainment,” she said in a statement last year.
By using her family’s mail order party paraphenalia, Kate reportedly sent toys and other gifts to children in the hospital last Christmas.
Last night, as Kate raised money for Starlight, her love Prince William mingled with the guests. Those guests included children who use Starlight for their own dreams to become a reality. One of them, 11 year-old Sophie Roberts, who’s dream is to be a singer, got a chance to sing for everyone.
Kate was inspired to get involved in Starlight after meeting a young girl who was using the charity during a boxing charity event last year.
Does the BBC know something the rest of the world doesn’t?
The Beeb is making a documentary about the courtship for Prince William and his longtime girlfriend Kate Middleton, called “Their Story”. This despite economic hardships currently going on in the U.K.
The documentary will air the very day the engagement between the couple is officially announced. When that will happen, no one knows for sure.
“Believe me, in these straitened times, we would not be spending money on this program if we had not been assured that they were definitely going to get engaged,” says a senior BBC executive, according to the Daily Telegraph.
Speculation of an engagement announcement has reach fever pitch ever since William and Kate were photographed with their arms wrapped around each other after a polo match two weeks ago. Hello! magazine is claiming a wedding will take place in 2010.
The media has been guessing when William and Kate will finally announce their engagement ever since the two were photographed on the Swiss ski slops five years ago.
In 2006, Woolworths’ created a line of dishware with the couple’s images on them amidst rumors of an engagement.
However, William and Kate called it quits in 2007 – only to get back together six weeks later.
One can expect the engagement speculations to increase as William finishes up his training to be a helicopter pilot. He will complete it in 2010, the year he will turn 28.
The Prince once told a reporter he doesn’t want to get married until he is 28 or 30 years old.
After 7 years, and many ups and downs together, the wedding bells are getting louder and louder for the university sweethearts.
It’s happening again: reports are going around that Britain’s Prince William will announce his engagement to long time love Kate Middleton at the end of this March.
But this recent report is not coming from the usual gossip magazines. It’s from the French publication Pointe de Vue, which claims to have reliable sources in all the royal houses in the world.
According to Pointe de Vue, William likely purposed to Kate during their holiday in Scotland. He then asked her parent’s permission during her 27th birthday celebrations a few days later.
Sources say the announcement will come towards the end of this month so there would be a summer or autumn wedding. They also “say” that all the royals in the world have been asked to clear their diaries for the wedding.
The Daily Mail also reported that a house on Prince Charles’ Cornwall estate has been undergoing a lot of work recently, giving some to believe that it is being prepared a William and Kate’s first home together.
Romantic and exciting as it sounds, there is room for some doubt. Pointe de Vue is the same magazine which reported Prince Albert of Monaco would announce his engagement to girlfriend Charlene Wittstock last fall. But instead, nothing happened.
Despite this, you can bet royal watchers worldwide would be biting their nails to see if the long awaited announcement would come later this month!
Photographers didn’t see them, and there is scant hearsay of what went on, but it appears to be true: royal girlfriends Kate Middleton and Chelsy Davy were at Prince Charles’ Highgrove estate for a private celebration of his 60th birthday.
It was rumored for months that the two ladies were to attend at least one party held for the Prince of Wales. Speculation that Middleton and Davy were to go to the formal party at Buckingham Palace Thursday turned out to be false. But according to eyewitnesses, the loves of Princes William and Harry were guests at the Highgrove bash, thrown by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
There were many close friends and family of the Prince of Wales there. Royal relatives such as the Duke of York, the Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice, and Zara Philips were there.
Other guests included Rod Stewart, who gave a private concert for the partygoers. His music sent the guests to dance floor.
According to Hello! magazine, William and Harry gave a hilarious joint speech to their father. Camilla also gave a toast to her husband.
The next morning, Charles and Camilla, William and Kate, Harry and Chelsy, gathered for breakfast. That according to the Daily Mail.
There will never be solid proof that Kate and Chelsy were at the party; no photographers were allowed inside Highgrove. It is unknown how the two managed to get in without the media’s notice. It is believed they might have arrived much earlier than the guests, or stayed the night before.
There have been some rumors and speculation that because of lack of public appearances together for several weeks, William and Kate were on the rocks, or had even split. But with enough eyewitness accounts of the couple being together at Highgrove, it can well be said that Prince William and Kate Middleton are still very much an item.
The girlfriend of Prince William is working on a charity project which would help thousands of ill children in hospitals have fun Christmas parties this December.
Kate Middleton is doing this on behalf of Starlight children’s foundation, which was founded by Emma Samms, who played Fallon Carrington Colby in the 1980s TV show Dynasty.
Kate has forged a link between her parents’ gift company Party Pieces and Starlight to give goodie bags, entertainment and decorations for 200 events to be held in hospitals across Britain this December.
Samms told The Mail on Sunday, “I find it terribly exciting that there are going to be 10,000 children who will get party bags and parties this Christmas, thanks to Party Pieces. We are extremely thrilled, as you can imagine.”
“I am looking forward to meeting up with Kate soon to thank her properly for what she has done for Starlight. It is such a huge donation.
“What a great thing they are doing – and what a great change it will make to these kids.”
Kate got the idea to link Party Pieces with Starlight after attending a charity boxing match earlier this year. There, she met Bianca Nichols, a 19 year old with cystic fiborsis, and was moved by her and the work Starlight did for her.
According to Sarah Dawson, the foundation’s director of corporate fundraising, Kate could see an immediate way she could link Starlight with her parents’ company.
“Our relationship is still in the early stages and I will be liaising directly with Kate,” said Dawson. “She will be putting everything together for us, from the pantomime that goes on to the paper cups.
“It’s amazing and fantastic what they are doing to transform the children’s time in hospital. There is no money involved.”
Kate has been working hard to change her image of a woman who parties while waiting for her Prince to propose to her, to someone who actually does something with her life. Last week, Ms Middleton was an organizer for a fundraising event which raised money for a charity set up in a friend’s memory.
The creme de la creme of Europe’s fashionistas took to London’s Fashion Week during the past seven days, to get a glimpse of the latest designs for the Spring/Summer season.
The who’s who of the fashion world were rewarded with the presence of some European royals as well.
First off, the girls of York – Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. They first rubbed shoulders with supermodel Naomi Campbell at her charity party on Wednesday, then sat through the show for the Brazilian label Issa, where Campbell made a surprise appearance at the closing of the increasingly popular line.
One reason why Issa has been rising in stature on the London fashion scene is because of Kate Middleton, Prince William’s girlfriend. Ms Middleton reportedly gets free dresses from the label, and has made many elegant appearances throughout London.
Also interested in Issa is Charlotte Casiraghi, the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco. She too sat through Issa’s fashion show, perhaps making a critique since she is apparently pursuing a career in fashion journalism. Her recent internship at a London newspaper and published fashion articles offer proof.
Fashion week may be over for London, but we still got Paris and Milan to focus on – and even sundry fashion capitals like Copenhagen and Madrid. Check back more to see if any more royals made appearances in the aforementioned fashion locations!
Dressed in a green sequioned top, yellow hot pants and pink leg warmers, Kate Middleton skated through last night as the organizer of an 80s style roller disco charity event.
The fundraiser was set up in memory of Tom Waley-Cohen, a friend of Kate’s from Marlborough boarding school, who died of bone cancer in 2004, aged 20. His family established the Torch Appeal to raise £1million for the general surgical ward and have already passed the total by £200,000 but are continuing to collect funds to pay for other improvements to the unit.
Kate’s fundraiser aimed to raise 100,000 pounds for Tom’s Ward at the Oxford Children’s Hospital, and the organization the Place2Be — which provides counseling to youngsters.
Tom’s brother Sam, heaped praise on Kate for her help in organizing the event. “She’s been fantastic in using her contacts to get people along – she has persuaded loads of people to commit.”
The event was intended to “reflect the lighter side of life; very much like Thomas was himself”. He added, “We wanted to do something fresh and new; something that would be fun and a bit tongue in cheek.”
And fun and tongue in cheek it was. With such guests as Guy Pelly, Princess Beatrice, Kate’s sister Pippa, and Holly Branson – the daughter of Sir Richard Branson – the event was a night to remember. The guests danced on their skates and had a great time.
The event was held at a roller rink in South London.
Kate Middleton unfortunately was photographed falling flat on her back during the skating.
Organizing this event in memory of a friend may be one reason for Kate to do some good, but there may be other reasons, too. Kate has been criticized by the UK press and royal watchers for not doing much but living the life of a rich girl since graduating from university three years ago. Friends say Kate is “anxious” to be seen as someone who is not sitting round “waiting for [Prince] William to click his fingers.”
